What is ReVision and what do you do?

ReVision is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vision care to underserved communities worldwide. We collect donated eyeglasses, conduct vision screenings, and distribute eyeglasses to those who need them but cannot afford them. Our mission is to eliminate preventable blindness and ensure everyone has access to clear vision.

How long has ReVision been operating?

ReVision was founded in 2015 and has been serving communities for over 9 years. Since our founding, we have provided vision care to over 100,000 people in more than 25 countries worldwide.

What types of eyeglasses do you accept?

We accept all types of eyeglasses in good condition, including:

  • Prescription glasses (all strengths)
  • Reading glasses (+1.00 to +3.00 are most needed)
  • Sunglasses
  • Children's glasses
  • Both metal and plastic frames

Glasses should be in good condition with minimal scratches. We also appreciate donations of cases and cleaning cloths.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes! ReVision is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so all donations (both eyeglasses and financial contributions) are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. We provide donation receipts for all contributions.

How much of my financial donation goes to programs?

We are committed to transparency and efficiency. 85% of all financial donations go directly to program services, including vision screenings, eyeglass distribution, and community outreach. The remaining 15% covers essential administrative costs, fundraising, and organizational development.

Do I need medical experience to volunteer?

No medical experience is required for most volunteer positions! We provide comprehensive training for all volunteers, including vision screening techniques and eyeglass fitting procedures. We have volunteer opportunities for people with all skill levels and backgrounds.

How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?

We offer flexible volunteer opportunities to fit different schedules:

  • One-time events (2-4 hours)
  • Regular weekly shifts (2-4 hours)
  • Monthly commitments (1-2 events)
  • Special projects (varies)

We work with you to find opportunities that match your availability and interests.

Where do you provide services?

We provide services in over 25 countries worldwide, including:

  • Local communities in the United States
  • Rural areas in Latin America
  • Underserved regions in Africa
  • Remote communities in Asia
  • Indigenous populations globally

We focus on areas where access to vision care is limited or non-existent.

How do you ensure donated glasses reach the right people?

We have a comprehensive process to ensure donated glasses reach those who need them:

  • All glasses are cleaned, sorted, and catalogued by prescription strength
  • We partner with local healthcare providers and organizations
  • Vision screenings are conducted to determine the correct prescription
  • Glasses are fitted and adjusted by trained professionals
  • Follow-up care is provided when possible
